I started mixing with 2 simple, cheap consumer turntables from Sears when I was in 4th grade circa 1972. I wired a dual switch box to turn them on & off, cut turntable pads out of felt, & away I went. I'd blast my speakers from bedroom windows on the second story of our house & play sets for the neighbors (probably not thrilled to have my music forced on them). I, however, loved it! My first paying gig was for my Dad in our basement - a 50s party. I got two 1200s & started playing private parties. I worked as a DJ at my college radio station, a private club, & a local radio station. After college, I veered off & focused on the movie business. I did lighting and compositing for Special Visual FX for 22 years on over 60 movies. I recently got a Pioneer controller with Rekordbox and fell in love with mixing all over again. I'm creating a new genre of music I call HypnoJazz. It's experimental. Great for busking. Not great for dancing. It's evolving. I love to make stuff.
