FAQ about the Electric x DJ.Studio contest#

Q1: Is it mandatory to use DJ.Studio for creating the mix?#

Yes, entries must be made using DJ.Studio . This contest is all about exploring the tool’s creative potential—so take advantage of features like Auto Mix, stems, and harmonic mixing! You upload your tracks in DJ.Studio app, make your mix with DJ.Studio and use the Export button in DJ.Studio to export your mix as a MP3 file. No need to use DJ controllers etc.

Q2: Can I use my own DJ jingles or voiceovers?#

For this takeover series, we ask that you don’t use DJ jingles , as the shows will be branded as part of the Electric event. Voiceovers are allowed —but we recommend using them sparingly and tastefully.

Q3:I don’t have a broadcasting license—can I still enter?#

Yes! As long as you’ve legally purchased the tracks (for example, through Beatport, Bandcamp, etc.), you're good to go. We handle the broadcast licensing on our end—so you don’t need to worry about that.

Q4: Are unofficial remixes, edits, or bootlegs allowed in my mix?#

For this contest, we’re sticking to commercially released, officially available music. That means no bootlegs, unofficial remixes, or unreleased edits—even if they’re your own. Keeping things licensed helps us broadcast your mix without legal hiccups.

Q5: Should the mix include new music only, or can I add some classics too?#

At least 50% of the tracks should be new releases from the past 6 months. It doesn’t have to be to-the-day exact, but aim for freshness—something that would still feel current to regular listeners and DJs. That said, we love a good classic—feel free to weave in some

Q6: What are the judges looking for in the guest mixes?#

We’re intentionally leaving this quite open—we want to see your creativity shine! However, strong entries will showcase the capabilities of DJ.Studio, with smooth transitions, thoughtful structure, and genre-blending flair. Bonus points if your mix reflects a distinct musical identity. timeless gems to create contrast or tell your story.

Q7: Are there any expectations around BPM or mix structure?#

We recommend checking out the headline slots linked to each genre on Electric Radio to get a feel for the tempo, energy flow, and structure they typically broadcast. This can help guide your approach, especially if you want your mix to feel at home on the station.

Q8: What kind of genres and styles are listeners into?#

Electric Radio's audience spans a broad spectrum—from Boiler Room-style underground vibes to Fred again.., Pete Tong, Tiesto, and more commercial club sounds. Your mix can explore up to six genres, so feel free to blend styles as long as it stays cohesive.

Q9: Where is the Electric Radio audience based?#

Electric Radio has a global listener base, with strong communities in the UK, Germany, USA, and Brazil. Think international dance floors when curating your mix.
