Frequently asked questions about system requirements
- Does DJ.Studio work on Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4)?
Yes. DJ.Studio runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The minimum is macOS Monterey or higher, and macOS Tahoe is supported. Apple Silicon is what we recommend: an M-series Pro chip with 16GB of RAM or more. On Apple Silicon the GPU handles stem separation at roughly 6 to 30 times realtime, while an older Intel Mac falls back to the CPU at 0.5 to 2 times.
- Does DJ.Studio run on Windows 11?
Yes. The requirement is Windows 10 or higher, so Windows 11 works. For a new machine we recommend an Intel i7 or equivalent from 2021 or later, 16GB of RAM and an SSD.
- Does stem separation run on my own computer or in the cloud?
On your own computer. Stem separation is an extension you install from Settings > Extensions, and all processing happens locally, so your music never leaves your machine. Speed depends on your hardware: an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA runs at 6 to 80 times realtime, Apple Silicon at 6 to 30 times, and CPU only at 0.5 to 2 times. You need 16GB of RAM for stem separation. Since version 4.1 there is a faster preview mode for slower machines, and your exported mix always uses full quality.
- Do I need a dedicated graphics card to export 4K video?
No, but it makes a big difference. DJ.Studio uses your hardware video encoder when your machine supports it and falls back to software encoding otherwise, which is slower and leans on the CPU. Plan on 16GB of RAM for video work. If a 4K export fails, switch Video Acceleration from Hardware to Software in the export settings.
- Can I use DJ.Studio without an internet connection?
Yes, after the first time. You need a connection to download the app and to sign in to your DJ.Studio account once. After that DJ.Studio starts and works offline. Online features such as Beatport search and 1001Tracklists are not available while offline.
- Does DJ.Studio run on Linux, an iPad or a phone?
No. DJ.Studio is a desktop app for Windows PCs and Macs. There is no Linux version and none for Android tablets, iPads or phones. There is a mobile app, but it is only for listening to mixes you already made.
