What’s the DJ.Studio upgrade policy from version 3 to 4 – free, reduced cost, or a new license?#

If you bought DJ.Studio within the last 12 months before a major release like 4.0, you receive that major release as part of your included updates. After your 12 months end, the app keeps working forever on your machine, and you can optionally purchase an Update Package to keep getting new major releases and support for another year. The Update Package is currently $49. You do not need to buy a brand-new full license to keep receiving updates.

Is there a one-time price for DJ.Studio, or do you pay for each upgrade/revision?#

We offer a one-time license that gives you a perpetual license on up to two machines and 12 months of updates and support. After that, the app continues to run normally. To continue receiving new major releases and support, you can buy the optional $49 Update Package for another 12 months. Minor updates tied to your last major version (bug fixes and security updates) remain available even after the period ends.

After the first year of DJ.Studio updates expires, do I need to buy the full version again to keep getting updates?#

No. Keep using your current version forever. If you want new major releases and support again, just purchase the Update Package (currently $49) for another year.

Are DJ.Studio's paid extensions (e.g., Elastique Pro) one-time licenses or subscription/paid per major upgrade?#

Extensions are separate add-ons you can try and purchase inside the app. They aren’t included in the one-time DJ.Studio license and are managed in Settings → Billing. Extension availability and terms are shown at purchase inside the app.

Do I get the update to DJ.Studio version 4 automatically, or do I need to manually upgrade?#

While 4.0 is in DJ.Studio Next (pre-release), you can install it alongside 3.1 and choose when to use it. When 4.0 becomes the official stable, your main (black) DJ.Studio app will update to 4.0. You can control auto-download vs manual updates in Settings → General.

Is there a trial version of DJ.Studio 4.0, and what exactly does the trial include?#

Yes – there’s a free trial that currently provides 7 days of access to Pro + Stems functionality. Exporting is disabled during the trial. Details and availability may change, so check the trial page for the latest.

Can I downgrade from DJ.Studio 4.0 back to a previous version if needed?#

During the Next period you can run 3.1 and 4.0 Next side by side, so you can fall back to 3.1 any time. Once 4.0 replaces 3.1 as the stable release, projects that use new 4.0 features may not be backward-compatible with 3.1. Keep backups if you plan to switch between versions.

Roughly how much could copyright/licensing cost for a mix with ~56 songs?#

If you use Beatport/Beatsource streaming while creating, you’ll need to Legalize & Export to purchase any tracks you don’t own before exporting. Your cost equals the store price per track × number of tracks you need to buy, plus any taxes. Prices are set by the stores, not DJ.Studio, so totals vary – the Legalize flow builds a cart for you and you complete checkout on the store.

Will you email details on how to become a certified DJ.Studio coach?#

We’ll announce coaching and certification opportunities via newsletter, YouTube, social channels, and in-app notifications. Make sure you’re subscribed and logged in to see announcements.

What DJ.Studio plans/tiers are offered and what are the prices?#

Plans currently shown on our pricing page include Studio, Pro, Pro + Stems, and Ultimate (feature differences include stems, video export, Ableton Live export, and VST support at the higher tiers). We offer both one-time licenses (with 12 months of updates and support) and monthly subscriptions. Prices can vary by currency and promotion, so please check the live pricing page for the most accurate numbers.

Quick DJ.Studio Pricing Tiers differences at a glance#

I started DJing when I was 15. Started a record label, residency by a club in Bristol. I’ve played at all the biggest clubs in Bristol (and the small ones) and have entertained thousands of dancers! I love writing about music, DJing, and technology. I've been blogging for DJ.Studio since the start of the project, and am always happy to answer questions and help fellow DJs out!
